Jewelcasen is the original CD package that has been used since the CD was released first time year 1982. It is a three-piece plastic case, measuring 142 mm x 125 mm x 10 mm, usually containing a CD with the booklet and traycard. Two opposing transparent halves are assembled to create the package, the rear suspension media tray with space for the disc in the hole. All three parts are made of injection-molded polystyrene.

The front cover contains two, four or six tabs to keep notes on the spot. Book Leten is normally a 120 mm x 120 mm booklet, or a single 242 mm x 120 mm blades folded in half. Furthermore, there is often a traycard card, 150 mm x 118 mm, the media tray containing the track name, studio, copyright and other information. On the back, the card is folded to a U-shape, with side edges visible along the broad side (often called the backbone) of the package. These often contain the name of release and artist, and often the label or catalog information printed on them, and are designed to be visible when the package is stored vertically, “book-style ‘.
